(mt.com) -- Hey Tellqvist fans! Hope you're having a great summer but not enjoying the off season too much!

Yesterday marked the first day of Free Agent Frenzy as many media outlets are calling it and so far, the Coyotes haven't been as active as some teams. However, the recent additions to the team will no doubt help them next year.

MT.com would like to introduce you to the newest member's of the organization (so far!)

MEET YOUR NEWEST COYOTES

OLLI JOKINEN

Captain of the Panthers since the start of the 2003-04 season, Jokinen led Florida with 34 goals and 71 points in 82 games last campaign. The 29-year-old Finn played in 567 games with the Panthers and is the franchise leader in tallies (188), assists (231), points (419) and game-winning goals (36).

ALEX BOURRET

Drafted 16th overall by Atlanta in 2005, Bourret was obtained by New York in February 2007. The 21-year-old spent last season with Hartford of the American Hockey League, recording nine goals and 24 assists in 54 games.

A native of Quebec, Bourret has yet to make his NHL debut.

BRIAN MCGRATTON

The 26-year-old recorded three assists and 46 penalty minutes in 38 games with the Senators last season. He’s played with Ottawa since the 2005-2006 season, when he set career highs by making 2 goals and 3 assists in 60 games.

McGrattan appeared in 196 games with Binghamton of the American Hockey League from 2002-2005

KURT SAUER

The 27-year-old Sauer appeared in 54 games for Colorado last season, recording one goal, five assists and 41 penalty minutes. A native of Minnesota, he added one tally in 10 postseason contests.

In 288 games with Anaheim and Colorado, the 6-4, 220-pound Sauer has notched four goals, 22 assists and 214 penalty minutes.

TODD FEDORUK

Fedoruk, 29, played in 69 games last season with the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild, setting career highs in goals (six) and penalty minutes (139). He also played in all six of Minnesota’s playoff contests, recording a goal, an assist and 16 minutes in penalties.

The Coyotes are looking to become a tougher team physically with the 6-2, 235-pound Fedoruk in the lineup.

(mt.com) -- After a 5-3 victory over the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals, Sweden faced off against Team Canada in the semi's.

Canada got off to an early 1-0 lead from Dany Heatley's 11th of the tournament. Sweden would pull one back before the intermission as Anton Stralman netted his 3rd of the tournament.

Sweden took a 2-1 lead 2:46 into the second period with a goal from Nicklas Wallin. Canada replied with 2 quick goals from Ryan Getzlaf and Jamal Mayers to regain a 3-2 advantage. The see-saw battle continued as Anton Stralman scored his 2nd of the game to even things up at 3. Rick Nash made the game 4-3 for Canada, while Mike Green scored on the powerplay to give Canada a 5-3 lead going into the 3rd.

Henrik Lundqvist was sat on the bench for the 3rd period, with Mikael Tellqvist getting the nod, hopefully to shake up the Swedish forwards. Tellqvist was superb, stopping 11 shots in the third period. Sweden would pull within one with 6 minutes left in the game. With Tellqvist pulled, Sweden barraged the Canada zone with the extra man but could not beat Pascal Leclaire and were eliminated from gold medal contention.

Sweden will face off against the losers of the other semi-final, Finland, in the bronze medal game.

09 May 2008

(mt.com) -- After a 9-0 thrash of France, Sweden decided to stick with Stefan Liv in goal against the Swiss. In one of the major upsets so far, the Swiss pulled off a 4-2 victory, as goaltender Jonas Hiller put on a spectacular performance for Switzerland, stopping 28 of 30 shots.

Patric Hornqvist and Fredrik Warg were the lone scorers for Sweden, while Thierry Paterlini, Thibault Monnet, Beat Forster and Andres Ambuhl scored for the Swiss.

(mt.com) -- After the dissappointing loss to Switzerland, you can bet the Swedes were happy to have goaltender Henrik Lundqvist join the team and was ready to start against Denmark. Mikael Tellqvist remained as the backup.

A motivated Swedish team put 43 shots on the Danes as they came away with an 8-1 win. Tony Martensson scored 2 goals, and Mattias Weinhandl finished with 3 points.

Sweden continues its quest for gold against the Russians on Saturday afternoon.

(mt.com) -- Mikael Tellqvist was named starting goaltender for Team Sweden at the World Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sweden opened their preliminary round by facing Belarus.

Sweden took an early 2 goal lead in the first half of the second period before Belarus would score 3 unanswered goals to take the lead. At the end of the period the game was tied at 4, a bit of surprise to the Swedes.

After each team exchanged goals to start the third, Rickard Wallin of Sweden scored the eventual game winning goal with 10 minutes left in the game.

Mikael Tellqvist stopped 19 shots to get the win in the first game of the World Championships.

Game: Summary

==================================================================

(mt.com) -- After a disppointing first game for the Swedes, Head Coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson decided to go with goaltender Stefan Live to shake things up a bit against the French.

The French's game plan was simple. Keep the game at 0-0 for as long as possible. They did a great job at doing that to start, keeping the game scoreless until midway through the second period. That is when the floodgates opened. Tony Martensson, Patric Hornqvist, Mattias Weinhandl, and Nicklas Wallin each scored in the second to give Sweden a commanding 4 goal lead.

In the third, Nicklas Backstrom's 2 goals, combined with goals from Alex Edler, Robert Nilsson, and Kenny Jonsson to give Sweden the 9-0 victory.

Stefan Liv only had to make 16 saves throughout the game, while Sweden barraged France with 51.

Sweden's next game is Wednesday afternoon against Switzerland.

MT.COM WEEKLY UPDATE

Howdy Tellqvist fans, here's the weekly update!

Not much going on with Tellqvist this past week. No word yet on if he plans to attend the Worlds, which begin next Saturday. In fact, MT.com's been scanning the 'net for any updates on Team Sweden's roster and have come up short. Hopefully the IIHF will release some details pertaining to Sweden's roster before the tournament begins.

In other Worlds news, Coyotes captain Shane Doan will be dawning the 'C' for Team Canada. Congrats Shane! Read More?

As of today, the San Antonio Rampage have tied their series with the Marlies 3-3 after winning today 3-0. For the first time in the series, the Marlies out shot the Rampage but they managed to shut out the door. Game 7 goes tomorrow night in Toronto and is winner take all! Expect Josh Tjordman to be between the pipes. Follow the Rampage by visiting SARampage.com.

That just about does it for this week. I'm off on a month-long vacation to the southern United States (no stops in Phoenix however!) but no worries, Victor will be here to update you on the latest Tellqvist, Coyotes and Team Sweden happenings!

See you all in June!

MT.COM WEEKLY UPDATE

Greetings Tellqvist fans!

Just thought I'd start off by mentioning that Tellqvist had a fantastic year stats-wise this season! Despite playing 8 fewer games this season than in 2006-07, Telly posted an impressive save percentage of .908 (up from .885) and a goals against average of 2.75, a significant improvement from 3.39. Awesome job Telly!

The 2008 IIHF World Hockey Championship is just shy of two weeks, taking place in Halifax and Quebec City. A number of Coyotes will be attending including Shane Doan, Martin Hanzal and Radim Vrbata. So far, there has been no word yet if Tellqvist will attend. He alluded to the possibility in the Coyotes' Summer Plans video on PC.com but there have been no confirmations. We'll be sure to let you know the latest!

The official Coyotes website has posted a video on the Best Memories of 2007-08, definately a must see!

The San Antonio Rampage have started their Calder Cup run and are tied at 1-1 in their series against the Toronto Marlies. (FYI, Tellqvist played 3 games with the Marlies in 2006 as part of a conditioning stint shortly before being dealt). The Rampage came out flying in Game 2 with two rookies Chad Kolarik and Kevin Porter coming up huge (Kolarik scored a hat trick, only the ninth in Rampage history!) The series now shifts to the AT&T Center for the next three games, with the next game taking place Monday. Follow the Rampage's quest for the Calder Cup by logging on to The official Coyotes website or SARampage.com.

That just about does it for this MT.com Weekly Update! Any news of note will be posted throughout the week with a summary of the week's events posted on Sunday. As always, feel free to drop us here at MT.com a line if you have any comments, questions or contributions!
